2010 Distinguished Cognitive Scientist
UC Merced cognitive science faculty members recently honored Michael Mozer with the 2010 Distinguished Cognitive Scientist Award. This award is made possible by a generous gift from the Glushko-Samuelson Foundation which also funds the Mind, Technology and Society series on the campus. Dr. Mozer is professor at University of Colorado, Boulder, in the Computer Science Department and Cognitive Science Institute. He is internationally known for pioneering work in connectionist modeling and is leading expert on mechanisms of learning and cognition. He serves on multiple editorial boards and was the Chair of the Cognitive Science Society in 2006-07. Dr. Mozer’s March 11th award presentation was entitled, “Improving human learning and memory via cognitive models.”
